Ziersdorf is located in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria. The area of the market town covers 48.72 square kilometers. 18.76 percent of the area is forested. The municipality consists of the cadastral communities Dippersdorf, Fahndorf, Gettsdorf, Großmeiseldorf, Hollenstein, Kiblitz, Radlbrunn, Rohrbach and Ziersdorf. The place Ziersdorf was first mentioned around 1100 as a drawing goat village. The original main town axis ran from east to west through today’s Hollabrunner Strasse and the old Kellergasse along an old trade route. Along this street you can still find the oldest surviving houses in the village. It was only with the construction of the imperial and imperial road, which came from the imperial capital Vienna from south to north through Ziersdorf, that the town got its new main axis. Located on the important main route of the Austrian monarchy, the town grew and also slowly surpassed its neighboring towns, which had been larger until then.
